Doctor held for molesting patient

NEW DELHI: A doctor of a State Government-run dispensary at Shahdara in North-East Delhi was arrested on Thursday for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old patient. The doctor was allegedly in an inebriated state. The incident took place around 12-30 p.m. when the victim, a resident of Kardampuri in Shahdara, went to the dispensary with her brother for a check-up as she was apparently suffering from typhoid. On the pretext of conducting a physical examination, the doctor allegedly molested her and when she offered resistance, he threatened her with dire consequences.

However, the victim managed to free herself and scream for help. Subsequently, the police were called in and the doctor was arrested.

Cops dismissed

NEW DELHI: An assistant sub-inspector and three constables were dismissed from service on Thursday in the wake of "prima-facie" evidence against them in connection with the alleged encounter of two young men at Timarpur in Uttar Pradesh on July 31. The parents of the deceased had alleged that they were abducted from Ghaziabad and then murdered.

According to the police sources, preliminary investigations into the allegations indicated that the four, ASI Pramod Tyagi and constables Ashok, Sudesh Rana and Suraj Pal, were involved in stage-managing the encounter episode. They were dismissed from the service. "Inquiry into the matter has not concluded yet," said a senior police officer. The Ghaziabad police had earlier registered a zero FIR under provisions pertaining to abduction and murder of Zulfikar and Nazakat after a complaint was lodged by their relatives alleging that Delhi police constable Ashok got them murdered in fake encounter to avenge his brother Digambar's murder, in which they were accused.

One Somwati lodged a complaint with the Sultanpuri police station on September 21, 2001 that her daughter had gone missing and that she suspected her tenant Mohd. Kess to have abducted her. During the trial, the girl deposed that Kess waylaid her and sexually assaulted her after taking her to a secluded place behind Nangloi Railway Station and then again at another place. The medical examination also confirmed rape.
