NEW DELHI: Four persons allegedly involved in a robbery at the Sarita Vihar residence of a lawyer in South Delhi on July 31 who had escaped from the interrogation room of the area police station on Wednesday were re-arrested on Thursday. Senior police officers are contemplating action against at least three police personnel in this connection. According to the police, Ravinder alias Ravi, Ram Prakash, Abdul alias Manglu and Vinod were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the robbery at the Sarita Vihar residence of Gaurav Chandok. The accused had robbed the lawyer's mother of valuables and cash to the tune of Rs. 20 lakhs. After they were arrested, the four were kept in the interrogation room of Sarita Vihar police station. On Wednesday morning, the personnel in-charge of the interrogation room went out around 10 a.m. after locking it from outside. In the meantime, the police called the media persons for a press conference to announce the arrests. However, when the interrogation room was opened, all the accused were found missing from there. They had managed to break the window grill of the room and escape from the rear portion of the police station. The press conference was immediately called off and a frantic search for the four launched. On Thursday, the police managed to arrest all the four. They also arrested one Chandan for giving shelter to the accused. The Sarita Vihar police station does not have a lock-up and the arrested persons are usually taken to the lock-up at the neighbouring Kalkaji police station at night.
