Former civil servant passes away
MUMBAI:
Anil Kumar Majumdar, a former senior IAS official of the Maharashtra cadre, died on August 7 at the age of 80. He had held senior positions both with the Government of Maharashtra and the Government of India.
An officer of the 1949 batch, Mr. Majumdar served in Maharashtra until 1967 where he served as Collector of Nashik and Nagpur districts. A specialist in the dairy sector, he was Dairy Development Commissioner, Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries and Director of the Aarey Milk Colony in Mumbai.
After 1967, Mr. Majumdar held several positions with the Government of India mostly in the area of Food and Civil supplies. He was Secretary, Ministry of Civil Supplies and also spent several years with the Food Corporation of India. His other assignments included being a Programme Adviser in the Planning Commission, Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development and Member-Secretary of the Fourth Central Pay Commission.
