Reliance ties up with Asianet
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Reliance Communications has tied up with Asianet to provide news and other programmes aired by the channel on mobile phones.
Kerala circle head of Reliance Communications Ashok Ghose and Asianet Managing Editor K.P. Mohan told presspersons here on Friday that the news and programmes being aired by Asianet would be provided on the data service suite of Reliance Mobile. People across the country could not only watch the video streaming of the news on the mobile but also download video clips of popular programmes aired by the channel. Customers would have to pay downloading charges for a session and it would not be metered minute by minute. The duration of the session would not be counted for fixing the rates. Globally, TV on mobile had registered an impressive growth, and the sales of TV-enabled handsets grew by 140 per cent this year.
Mr. Ghose said that other than Asianet, the company had tied up with Aaj Tak, CNBC, Eenaadu TV, NDTV and Times Now. Mr. Mohan said that in the wake of the changing work culture, the use of mobile TV was all set to go up.
Asianet vice-president (programmes) Sreekantan Nair was present.
