Pondy likely to get nodal centre for classical Tamil

Pondicherry: PMK Parliamentary Party leader M. Ramadoss said in a release here on Thursday that the Central Institute of Indian Languages at Manasagangotri in Mysore had taken into consideration his plea to include Pondy as one of the nodal centres for development of Classical Tamil. He said the Director of the Institute, Professor Udaya Narayana Singh, had informed him that the proposal for setting up the centre here would be finalised after consultation with the Pondy Government. The plan to set up a Centre of Excellence for Classical Tamil was yet to take shape.
