Letters to the Editor
This refers to the article "Let us join hands to reclaim feminism" (Aug. 9). Feminism is indeed in the line of fire, more than ever before. A feminist is seen by custodians of culture as everything a woman should not be. It is time a woman's individuality, and her right to live a life of dignity and fulfilment were recognised. Feminism envisages a world where women's work, including caring and nurturing, is appreciated and their voice is on a par with that of men. Hostility towards feminists breeds more hostility. Feminist bashing makes opportunities look like taboos. If a world of equal opportunities is to become a reality, it is necessary to level the pitfall dug by patriarchal discourses.
