`Sandal': ban order near gurudwara

Staff Correspondent

Bidar: Bidar district administration did not allow the "sandal" celebrations at the Syed-us-Sadat Dargah near the Gurudwara Guru Nanak Jhira in Bidar on Friday.

Prohibitory order was clamped around the Gurudwara premises under Sections 144 and 145 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The area was cordoned off. Heavy police presence ensured that no one entered the Gurudwara campus.

The police diverted vehicles bound for the holy shrine.

Meanwhile, the mutawalli of the dargah and others criticised the action of the district administration.

Criticised

They also criticised the Sri Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee for petitioning the Government to stop the celebration.

This was a special occasion for organising the "sandal".

This was the 550th year of the urs of the saint Syed-us-Sadat. His descendants wanted to celebrate the "sandal" at the dargah.

They were not allowed to do so, said Shah Mutafa Quadri in a release.
