5 policemen killed in Assam

Guwahati:
Five police personnel were killed in a bomb attack by the United Liberation Front of Asom in upper Assam on Friday.
Inspector General of Police, Special Branch, Khagen Sharma told The Hindu that an improvised explosive device, planted by the ULFA, went off at Ratanipathar under Pengeri police station in Tinsukia district around 5.15 p.m. just after the vehicle of Tinsukia SP Debajit Hazarika had crossed the area.
The blast ripped apart the vehicle of Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Margherita, which was closely following the SP's vehicle.
