Father of fake shoot-out victim demands justice

Ghaziabad: A day after four Uttar Pradesh policemen were dismissed from service after it was found they allegedly gunned down two men in a fake shoot-out, the father of one of the victims on Friday said the punishment was not enough.

"All these people should be jailed and prosecuted for the killing of two innocent men," Gulam Nabi, father of Nazakat, said with tears in his eyes. Nabi, who has filed a case with police in Ghaziabad against the "erring" police personnel, said the local police had transferred the case to Delhi Police for investigation.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Pramod Tyagi and constables Sudesh Rana, Ashok Kumar and Suraj Pal were dismissed on Thursday after a departmental enquiry found them "prima facie guilty" in the incident.

Police had on July 31 claimed that two criminals, Zulfikar (26) and Nazakat (22), both residents of Meerut, were shot dead after they opened fire at a police party near Jagatpura village in Timarpur locality. -- PTI
