`No,' says BJP

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party said here on Friday that it would strongly resist any attempt by the Government to reach an understanding with Pakistan on the Kashmir issue on the basis of India agreeing to confer on Jammu and Kashmir the status it enjoyed before 1953.

BJP leader V.K. Malhotra, was commenting on a report in a Pakistani newspaper, The Nation, that in a non-paper India had made this offer.
