NEW DELHI: In a suspected case of food poisoning, six girl students of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's primary school at Block-K in Jehangirpuri were taken ill after consuming food provided under the mid-day meal scheme. It is learnt that the school runs in two shifts -- morning shift for girls and afternoon for boys. Just around noon, students were given "subzi" and "puri" under the mid-day meal scheme. However, soon after the school was over, six students began vomiting and complained of stomach pain and headache. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Senior MCD officials said there was no confirmed reports of food poisoning and food samples had been sent for tests. "Over 500 students consumed the food but only six fell ill, therefore food poisoning can only be confirmed after test reports are received."
