BANGALORE: Officials of the Excise Department on Thursday night unearthed an illicit liquor manufacturing unit in Ramamurthynagar police station limits and seized illicit liquor, spirit, machinery and vehicles used for transporting the illicit liquor, all worth Rs. 40 lakh. Sources in the Excise Department said that on a tip-off they intercepted a lorry carrying illicit liquor on Hosur Road, off Koramangala. They arrested one of the two persons in the truck, while the others managed to escape. The arrested person told the officials that the liquor was being transported to Kerala from a manufacturing unit at Thambuchettypalya in Ramamurthynagar police station limits.

The officials immediately raided the unit, which was located at a rented house, and arrested three persons Suresh, Shanmuga and Murthy.
