Toronto: Family members of the victims of the 1985 Air India bombing had an emotional journey down memory lane on Friday as they came together for the groundbreaking ceremony of a memorial for their loved ones. Government officials and victims' families gathered on the shores of English Bay in Vancouver, where the Ceperley Playground near Second Beach is being redeveloped as a permanent memorial to those who died 21 years ago. The victims' families say this memorial will serve as a symbol of hope. Natasha Madon, who lost her father Sam Madon at the age of four in the crash, said it was "nice to finally be able to speak on something positive." Perviz Madon's husband Sam was one of the 329 passengers who died. As she turned soil at the groundbreaking, Ms. Perviz who resides in North Vancouver smiled and whispered "peace and happiness". PTI
