NEW DELHI: Yuri Bezeruk of Australia capped his fine run by clinching the title in the ITF Satellite tennis circuit first leg at the DLTA Complex here on Saturday. The 22-year-old fourth seed played better as the match progressed and saved two set-points in the first set tie-break before prevailing over Aqeel Khan of Pakistan 7-6(7), 6-2. Bezeruk started well by breaking Aqeel easily in the first game. However, the Aussie lost the advantage and dropped his serve in the second game. Having played tough three-setters in the earlier three rounds, Aqueel dropped serve in the fourth game of the second set after a tussle when he saved two breakpoints, and failed to hold on to the last straw when he missed a breakpoint in the next game. The curtains came down pretty fast thereafter. It was only the second title in a Satellite leg for Bezeruk following the triumph in the third week of the Indonesian Satellite in October last year. The winner collected $812.5 and 21 circuit points, and the runner-up had to be content with $562.5 and 15 circuit points. Former Davis Cup coach Akhtar Ali gave away the trophies.
