KOZHIKODE : India will soon become a global centre of innovative and high value solution, Manish Gupta, Chief Technical Officer, India Systems and Technology Lab, IBM, has said. Talking on ``Whither India: Cost Advantage to Strategic Partnerships,'' at the annual IT management seminar, AIMS 2006, organised by AbaKus, the IT and Systems interest group at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K) near here on Saturday, Mr. Gupta said the theme of AIMS this year was `IT India: From Cost Advantage to Strategic Partnership'. He said the country should build up a culture of innovation. The country needs to address some of the challenges, including providing basic education for all. Also, very few Ph.Ds were being awarded in computer science in the country. He observed that the growth of IT in the country lies in its application to solve business problems. "We want more people with deep IT and business knowledge in the future," he said. IBM has recently set up a satellite centre of its Delhi Research Centre in Bangalore city. India's BPO industry was to grow by 37 per cent to reach $ 25 b by 2010. The revenue of the country's consulting services was also bound to increase by 28 per cent to reach $ 0.7 b by 2010. He said that some of the areas that promises high growth as far as India was concerned were embedded system, VLSI\chip designing, information security, wireless application, high performing computing, nano-technology, etc.
