LONDON: The first cricket Test between India and England women's teams ended in a draw after the tourist battled hard to save the game on the final day on Friday. Needing 271 to win, India held on to 187 for eight in its second innings. Rumeli Dhar and Amita Sharma defied the host by cracking half-centuries. After England declared its second innings at 345 for eight, India played for the draw from the very start. But, the team was left helpless with three key batters Monica Sumra, skipper Mithali Raj and Anjum Chopra falling for ducks. However, patient knocks from opener Karu Jain (29 off 130 balls), Rumeli and Amita bailed India out of a possible defeat. The scores: England 223 & 345 for eight decl. (S. Taylor 115, L.
