Bangalore : Host Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) XI defeated Bradman Invitation XI in a Zone A match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Saturday evening in the Fair and Lovely Menz Active Twenty-20 cricket tournament for the Bradman Cup. KSCA XI won by nine wickets and its second successive victory helped it top Zone A and sail into the final scheduled for Sunday. KSCA XI will clash with the Zone B topper. Intermittent rains cut short the duration of play. Two spells of evening monsoon showers curtailed the Bradman Invitation XI innings at 77 for four in 10.2 overs. Openers Subhomoy Das (23) and Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan (19) set a breezy tempo early on but with both of them getting run-out, the middle-order failed to stem the breach and only picked the fielders posted on the fence with some ambitious shots. KSCA XI was asked to chase 61 from seven overs as per the Duckworth Lewis method and it scored the required runs in just 4.4 overs. Opener Gaurav Dhiman (18, 6b, 4x4) and Bharat Chipli (20 n.o.) pushed the score to 27 in 2.1 overs. The openers plundered 19 runs in the opening over bowled by former India seamer T. Kumaran. Dhiman however fell tamely, striking one straight back to the bowler Deepak Chougule. However, victory proved to be a mere formality as Devraj Patil (24 n.o.) indulged in two huge hits for six at off-spinner S. Lahiri's expense. The scores: Bradman Invitation XI 77 for four in 10.2 overs lost to KSCA XI 62 for one in 4.4 overs.
