Expo off to a glittering start

Jeweller sets out to woo customers

    VIJAYAWADA: GR Thanga Maligai (GRT), a Chennai-based premier jewellery house is organising a four-day exhibition-cum-sales - `Pasidi Thoranam', showcasing exquisite gold, silver and diamond jewellery at Hotel DV Manor from Saturday.

    Speaking to mediapersons, company's corporate sales manager S. Saradhi said the GRT group was organising the exhibition for the first time in Vijayawada. "Many customers from Vijayawada come all the way to Chennai to buy jewellery from Thanga Maligai for decades. This expo is aimed at coming close to them by displaying a wide range of jewellery," he added.

    Mr. Saradhi said GRT displayed maximum number of hallmark jewellery certified by Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS).

    Founded in 1964 by G. Rajendran, Thanga Maligai expo offered gold articles from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 3 lakh and silver ware from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1.5 lakh. Diamond jewellery was also on display ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5 lakhs.

    The organisers are also conducting a "guess and win" contest for the customers.

    "The customers should guess the weight of a gold ornament and the winner will get a special gift," Mr. Sarathi added.

    Monthly schemes

    He said the company was offering various monthly schemes to the customers living outside Tamil Nadu. "Customers can enter the monthly scheme by submitting post-dated cheques for a period of 15 months.

    After the completion of the scheme, they can buy jewellery of their choice. We will also add the interest and some special incentives while repaying the deposit," Mr. Sarathi said.
