Southern Discom sports festival begins

TIRUPATI: The "sports festival" of Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) began on a colourful note at SV Arts college grounds here on Saturday.

Seven teams are taking part in the four-day festival, each representing the six circles of Tirupati, Kadapa, Nellore, Ongole, Guntur and Vijayawada and the Tirupati-based corporate office.

This is for the first time that a company-level sports event is conducted for Southern Discom after the bifurcation of the APSEB.

The company's Director (Commercial and Projects), Y.Padmanabha Reddy, formally inaugurated the festival by hoisting a flag. In his address, he spoke on the importance of sports and games to combat stress and urged the players to exhibit sportsmanship.
