Bangalore: The Registrar (Vigilance) of the Karnataka High Court has submitted a report on the case in which the Indiranagar police had detained a person from Malur in Kolar district. The court last month asked the Registrar to inquire into the conduct of four police officials of the Indiaranagaar police station in filing affidavits on the detention. When the matter came up, a Division Bench comprising Justice H.L. Dattu and Justice Bopanna sought to know why action should not be taken against the four police officials, including the police inspector. State Public Prosecutor (SPP) S. Dore Raju submitted that the police inspector was a man of honesty and integrity and that any action against him would not be in the interest of justice. He said that he had not been furnished a copy of the report prepared by the Registrar (Vigilance). The Bench directed the Registry to furnish to the SPP a copy of the report. The Bench passed the order on a petition by Shanthamma, a resident of Malur, seeking a writ of habeas corpus to the police to produce her son before the court.
