Armed Police (Chennai) in quarterfinals

DINDIGUL: A.N. Dhyaneswaran Basketball Academy, Tiruchi, entered the quarterfinals of the Ravi memorial trophy State-level open basketball tournament with a 48-47 victory over SAI Sports Hostel, Salem, here on Saturday.

In another match, defending champion, Armed Police, Chennai, posted an easy 80-38 victory over Pattiveeranpatti Basketball Club.

SIT triumphs

At Pudukottai, Sethu Institute of Technology (Madurai) defeated Mohammed Sathak Engineering College (Kilakarai) 53-25 to win the title at the Anna University Zone-9 inter-engineering college basketball tournament here on Saturday.

Host Sudharshan Engineering College edged out AC Tech (Karaikudi) 44-35 for the third spot. Meanwhile, at Kovilvenni (Tiruvarur District), Paventhar Bharathidasan College of Engineering and Technology (Tiruchi) defeated JJ College of Engineering and Technology (Ammapettai) 48-34 to win the Zone-8 title.

Jayaram College of Engineering and Technology (Tiruchi) beat host Anjalaiammal Mahalingam Engineering College 32-29 to clinch the third spot.

State-level chess
