Dhruv's hat-trick in KV's win

HYDERABAD: Striker Dhruv struck a hat-trick to guide Kendriya Vidyalaya (Picket) to a 4-0 win over Model Mission School in the Sachdev Sports inter-school football tournament here on Saturday.

Kendriya Vidyalaya took the lead thanks to a self-goal from Hanamanthu and later Dhruv was on target thrice.

In another match, Hyderabad Public School (Begumpet) scored a 3-1 win via tie-breaker over Gurukul Vidyapeeth after the teams were locked goalless at the end of the regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Rambabu, Kranti and Giri scored for the winner, while Vishal was successful for the loser.

Durga Prasad wins

Durga Prasad defeated Y. Gopala Krishna 55-62, 49-39, 66-25, 69-63 in the preliminary round of snooker in the FMC Open billiards and snooker tournament here on Saturday.

CMRCET in semifinals

CMRCET recorded a five-run win over TRR Engineering College to move into the semifinals of the third Bandari Srinivas inter-engineering college cricket tournament in Chevella on Saturday.

The scores: Ayaan IT 73 for four lost to Raja Mahendra IT 75 for two; B.V. Raju IT 93 for five lost to VJIT 96 for three; CMRCET 127 for two (Sudhir 62) bt TRR Engg. College 122; JBIET 135 for six (Sarat 42) bt JBREC 114 for nine (Charan 44).

Rishipal wins

Rishipal Singh outwitted G. Sridhar in the first round of the 44th AP State Open chess championship (selection tournament for National B) for the Brilliant Trophy here on Saturday.

Earlier, D. Sudheer Reddy, HUDA chairman, inaugurated the event. The recent Asian gold medallists G.V. Sai Krishna (u-10) and Ch. Sahajasri (u-10), Meher Chinna Reddy (u-12) were felicitated on the occasion.

Karate tournament
