Hyderabad: The winners of the various categories in the Laser National sailing championship received their prizes during the closing ceremony held at the Secunderabad Club sailing annexe at the Husainsagar Lake here on Saturday.

The Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Renuka Choudhary, was the chief guest.

Most of the winners were from the Army Yachting Node (AYN), Mumbai, but the Secunderabad Sailing Club (SSC) had something to cheer about since Archana Kamlakar bagged the top spot for woman sailors in the Laser Radial class. Shantha Ravi Kumar of the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association was second. There were only two women participants. Other Secunderabad sailors who figured in the prize list were Ramesh Vachhani, who won the Masters title in the Radial class, and Murali Kanuri, who won the Grandmasters title in the same class.

In the Youth (under-19) Radial class, the winner was Rohit Mohan of SSC.

The final placings:

Laser Standard: 1. N.S. Johal (AYN); 2. V. Harihara (AYN); 3. Jasveer Singh (AYN).

Laser Radial: 1. Rajesh Choudhary (AYN); 2. B.K. Rout (AYN); 3. P. Madhu (AYN).

Laser 4.7 class: 1.Navin Shirodkar (NDA); 2. Mrinalini Santhanam (TNSA); 3. Sooraj Sadanandan (TNSA).

Mistral: 1. Ghanshyam (AYN); 2. A. Tripathi (AYN); 3. P.J. Thomas (AYN).

Kelly Rao Trophy for overall winner without discards: N.S. Johal (AYN).

Special categories: Laser Radial: Women: 1. Archana Kamlakar (SSC); 2. Shantha Ravi Kumar (TNSA).

Masters: Ramesh Vachhani (SSC).

Grandmasters: Murali Kanuri (SSC).

Youth (under-19): Rohit Mohan (SSC).

Best Apprentices: Standard class: V. Harihara (AYN). Radial class: Dharmendra Singh (AYN).
