Attack on Sangh Parivar: BJYM joins issue with Congress

Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI: The BJP and the BJYM have taken a serious exception to the Congress and other `pseudo-secularists' trying to paint the Sangh Parivar black on the evangelism issue and criticised them for trying to whitewash the whole issue as a `bogey' being created by the Parivar.

The immediate provocation for their reaction was an all-party meeting and a meet with the elites of the town, convened here on Friday, by the local Congress MLA M. Venkatramana wherein they poured scorn at the BJP and its frontal units for allegedly trying to create communal disharmony in Tirupati under the garb of checking proselytisation on and off Tirumala. The meet also lashed at the `sanths' and the Parivar for trying to spread `bad blood' among the people of different religions living peacefully in the town for centuries.

BJYM State general secretary G. Bhanuprakash Reddy in his five `straight questions' put to the MLA asked if the Congress stand was right, why should the TTD's Specified Authority (SA), as a damage controlling measure, adopt a resolution to deport all non-Hindu residents from Tirumala to Tirupati and shift all non-Hindu TTD staff working in the temples to non-temple departments.

Reddy also asked if it was all a `bogey', why should the SA pass a resolution to bring pressure on the Government to pass a fresh G.O in the place of a contentious one - which allegedly sought to restrict the purview of the seven hills to two hills.

He questioned the delay in the Government coming out with the G.O and also in making public the contents of a videotape seized from two persons.
