HYDERABAD: Despite claims by the Government that not a single employee from the public sector undertakings would be retrenched, the CPI (M) has alleged that the Government was going ahead with its reforms in the PSUs through "backdoor" methods. At a press conference here on Saturday, CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu released a circular issued by the Industries Department Principal Secretary Janaki R. Kondapi stating that the representatives of the Implementation Secretariat would hold discussions with the officials of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation. The corporation was proposed to be merged with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation. "Though the Government has announced that it has kept GO 5 in abeyance, circulars like this are creating apprehensions among the employees," he said demanding that the Government take steps to withdraw its orders. The circular exposed the "deceitful attitude" of the Government, which had claimed there would be no retrenchment.
On subsidy
Mr. Raghavulu expressed apprehensions over the Government's decision to provide 80 per cent subsidy to farmers opting for ISI-marked pumpsets, given the reluctance it had shown earlier in providing subsidy for foot valves and capacitors.
