Kala Ratna awards on August 15

HYDERABAD: The `Kala Ratna' awards of the State Government, earlier called `Hamsa' awards, to outstanding artistes will be given away by the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at Ravindra Bharati on August 15.

The awardees for this year include: (literature) Dasarathi Rangacharya and Gorati Venkanna; (music) Yella Venkateswara Rao and S. Vithal Rao; (dance) Swathy Somanath and G. Padmaja Reddy; (painting) Bapu; (sculpture) C.S.N. Patnaik; and (folk arts) Katta Suryanarayana and S. Prabhakar.

A cash award of Rs. 30,000, a gold plated memento and a citation signed by the Chief Minister would be presented to the winners.
