KARIMNAGAR: CPI floor leader Chada Venkat Reddy has asked the Union Government announce a special package of Rs. 10,000 crores for the development of backward Telangana region along with the execution of pending irrigation projects, revival of sick industries and implementation of G.O. 610.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the CPI leader said that they would raise the betrayal of Telangana region in the ensuing Assembly session and demand for a special package to the Telangana region on par with the Vidarbha region as announced by the Centre. Finding fault with the Government for keeping in abeyance G.O. 610, he said that they would pressurise the State Government for the implementation of the G.O. during the Assembly session.

Flaying the dual standards of the Congress on Telangana Statehood, he said that the Congress was misleading the people on Telangana issue with contradictory statements by their leaders. The TRS was also misleading the people and the party rank and file by issuing frequent statements and announcing deadlines on the formation of Telangana State, he maintained. He said that the TRS deadlines on Telangana would send wrong signals to their own party leaders.

Appreciating the State Government for waiving of power dues to the tune of over Rs. 1,350 crores and distribution of free power to the farmers, he demanded the government to waive power bill dues of around Rs.180 crores to the SC colonies in the State and fulfill its dream of `Indiramma rajyam'.

    `State' failed

On the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims, he said that the government had failed on all fronts to rescue the people and provide them relief at the camps. He said that still several villages were marooned and no officials had visited them or provided them with some kind of solace.

He demanded that the Centre announce a grant of Rs. 1,000 crore for the rehabilitation of flood ravaged State and ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh CPI seeks special package for Telangana

to the people, who lost their lives in floods.
