Residents' plea on bottled water scheme

KOLLAM: The Kollam Residents' Apex Council has called upon the State Government to drop the proposed bottled water distribution scheme of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA).

In a statement here, council general secretary C. Amalolbhavan said the KWA was unable to ensure steady and regular supply of water to the consumers. The bottled water project will only serve to worsen the situation.

In Kollam, Rs.70 lakh was recently spent by the KWA to augment the water supply, but there has been no improvement in it.
