Bring out truth in tantri case, says Natesan

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that all those behind the assault and extortion of money from the former tantri of Sabarimala Kandararu Mohanararu should be brought to book.

He was inaugurating the fifth phase of micro-finance project of Kanayannoor SNDP Union and reception accorded to P.C. Thomas, MP; G. Raman Nair, Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president; Punalur Madhu and M.B. Sreekumar, TDB members.

Mr. Natesan said that the accused in the case Sobha John should be allowed to tell the names of all who were involved in the case. The Government should bring out the truth, he said. The community will return the love shown towards it and that is why Mr. Thomas is being honoured for his efforts to bring out coins with impressions of Sree Narayana Guru on it, he said.

Even though it was suggested that the release of the coin would be held in Ernakulam, Union Minister for Non-Resident Indians Affairs Vayalar Ravi wrote to officials that the release should be made in Sivagiri. The Yogam is not for controversies and has left the decision to Mr. Ravi, he said.

In his presidential address, Mr. Sreekumar said he was ready to quit public life if anyone could prove that he or the TDB had any connection with the tantri case or those accused in the case.

Replying to the reception, Mr. Thomas said that bringing out coins with impressions of Narayana Guru on them showed that the teacher did not belong to any group or community and that his teachings were still relevant.

Mr. Raman Nair, Mr. Madhu and Mr. Sreekumar were honoured for the decision to have 33 per cent reservation in appointments made in TDB. S. Sarma, Minister for Fisheries, inaugurated the distribution of autorickshaw to Yogam members. Hundred autorickshaws were distributed under the scheme. Pannian Ravindran, MP, inaugurated the pension scheme for senior members of the Yogam.
