Special Correspondent
Thiruvananthapuram: Speaker K. Radhakrishnan has said that the Assembly Secretariat will organise orientation programme for media persons regarding Assembly reporting on the lines of the recent orientation programme held for MLAs. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Radhakrishnan said there were lot of complaints regarding the shortfall in Assembly reporting. Some of the members were of the view that only trivia was being reported. In this context, the Assembly Secretariat had plans to organise orientation programme for media persons that would set the stage for interaction between legislators and media personnel. He said the orientation programme for MLAs was a success, with several important issues being highlighted. He said the Assembly committee to probe the allegations against the Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph could not be constituted because the Opposition had refused to cooperate on the grounds that the probe should be instituted after the Minister's resignation. Efforts would be made to recapture the history of the Assembly. The Speaker said he would consider the suggestion of MLAs from Malabar that the history of that region also be included in the project.
