The Hindu-Metro Plus Lifestyle Show from Thursday

KOCHI: The Hindu -Metro Plus Lifestyle Show, which brings under one umbrella latest and popular products from the stable of renowned brands, will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kaloor, from August 17 to 21.

The show is being presented by Samsung, with Crocodile and Rubber Board as co-sponsors. The stalls will be spread over two centrally air-conditioned hangars, spanning 4,000 square metres. As many as 120 participants will put up 200 stalls at the venue. The show will be on from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The unique products on display include Vietnamese furniture made from teak wood, rose wood and oak wood; artefacts from Kenya; jewellery and consumer durables from Thailand; and onyx stones from Pakistan. The show has emerged as the biggest in southern India.

Addressing presspersons at Taj Residency (the hospitality sponsor) here on Saturday, V. Kalidas, Vice-President (Advertisement), The Hindu , said that The Hindu -Metro Plus represented sophistication, lifestyle and art.

"There was tremendous response to futuristic products on display at the shows held in other cities. The show will have an exhaustive range of products: automobiles, furniture and furnishing, arts and handicrafts, interior decor, electronics, information technology, services, fast-moving consumer goods, luxury products, textiles and a host of other interesting categories," Mr Kalidas said.

Speaking on the occasion, Kerala head of Samsung Ajay David said that the show had been an ideal platform for his company to showcase its latest range of products.

M.K. Balagopalan Nair, Head of the Processing and Product Development Wing of Rubber Board, said rubber had come to be the ideal material for furniture.

"Its use prevents denudation of forests for wood," he said.

Riaz Arif, Chairman of iCare Communications, the event managers of the show; and Gokul Das, the State head of Crocodile; were present. A fashion show, in which 17 models participated, followed the press conference. The partners of the show are Planet Yumm and AVT Premium Tea (food and beverages), Sabols (water) and BSNL (communication).
