Murli Manohar Joshi raps Pathak report

Justice Pathak's report ignores name of Congress: Joshi

HYDERABAD: Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi has demanded that the Government take steps to bring all the "big fish" involved in the oil-for-food case into the net instead of limiting itself to former Union Minister Natwar Singh.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he alleged that the report submitted by Justice Pathak totally ignored mention of the Congress' name as beneficiary in one of the contracts and this was done to avoid bringing the name of Congress president Sonia Gandhi . Mr. Joshi pointed to Mr. Natwar Singh's claims that he had briefed the Congress president about the delegation's visit to Iraq. In view of this, Justice Pathak should have examined Ms. Gandhi to verify the statement of Mr. Singh who led the official Congress delegation. "Why is only Mr. Singh identified. All those whose names figure in the Volker's report should be brought within the net," he said.

Referring to the Indo-US nuclear deal, he said the way in which it was being negotiated by the UPA Government was totally against the interests of the country. The deal would mark a complete halt to India's fast breeder research.
