GUNTUR: The renovated `galigopuram' at the entrance of Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple in Mangalagiri in Guntur district was reopened on Saturday after two years. Minister for Cooperation Kanna Lakshmi Narayana formally re-opening the entrance under the 199-year-old galigopuram, that was renovated with an investment of Rs. 16 lakhs beginning at the time of Krishna Pushkaram in August 2004, praised the authorities for restoring the original attraction of the temple structure. No repairs had ever been taken up on it ever since its construction two centuries ago. During the pushkaram the Government sanctioned special grants to renovate some temples close to the Krishna. The Minister also inaugurated an `Annadanam' shelter constructed at a cost of Rs.1.8 lakhs out of donations from devotees.
