  • Scheme introduced in June this year

  • Total insured amount stands at Rs. 20 crores

HYDERABAD: Following the disease and death of two lakh sheep in the wake of heavy floods last year, the State Government has successfully implemented an insurance scheme for the animal owners since June 1 this year, said Animal Husbandry Minister G. Surya Rao. He told reporters here on Friday that the scheme was a big hit with villagers. The Government and the beneficiary shared the premium payout in equal proportions. The owners received the policy amount if the sheep died of disease, accident or consumption of poisonous material while grazing.
