Venue of Independence Day function changed

KOCHI: The venue for the Independence Day programmes to be held on Tuesday has been changed to St. Albert's College Ground, near Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kaloor, from Ambedkar Stadium, Ernakulam, owing to bad weather, according to the District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish. Minister for Fisheries S. Sarma will hoist the National Flag at 8 a.m. on Tuesday on the ground. — Staff Reporter

Traffic restriction

KOCHI: Vehicular traffic will not be allowed on the Vyttila-Kaniyampuzha road from August 14 to 18, because of maintenance work on the road. — Staff Reporter

NCP protest

KOCHI: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will organise a protest campaign on Tuesday against the alleged delay in extending bus services from Vypeen to the city.

The campaign will begin from old High Court Junction at 10.30 a.m. and continue till Kinco Jetty. In the next phase of the protest, a dharna will be held at High Court Junction on August 25. — Staff Reporter

Valedictory function

KOCHI: The valedictory function of the Ramayanam Week programmes organised by the Ernakulam Kshethra Kshema Samithi and the Cochin Devaswom Board will be held on Sunday at Kshethra Vadya Kalalayam near Siva Temple.

A quiz competition will be held at 3 p.m. Prizes will be distributed by M.K. Sanoo, critic, at the valedictory session to be held at 5 p.m. — Staff Reporter
