Traffic arrangements for Independence Day celebrations

The police have said that invitees will not be allowed to bring cellphones, radios and other articles

Bangalore: The city traffic police have announced the following traffic arrangements in connection with the Independence Day parade to be held from 9 a.m. at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Grounds.

Invitees with yellow car passes will come to Cubbon Road and enter Gate 1 facing northern side of the parade ground and park their vehicles on the western side of the parade ground. VIPs with white car passes, Ministers, secretaries, military officers and senior police officers have to use Gate 2 in front of Military Supply Depot and park on the western side of the parade ground. All invitees with pink passes have to park on BRV Police Parade Ground and enter through Gate 1. Green pass holders have to park on Kamaraj Road and Main Guard Cross Road and enter through Gate 3.

All vehicles carrying people participating in the parade and cultural events will enter the grounds through Gate 3; their vehicles are to be parked behind the fort wall inside the parade ground. All government vehicles of PWD, BMP and other vehicles have to enter through Gate 3 and park behind participants' vehicles.

Two wheelers have to be parked on Kamaraj Road and their drivers should enter through Gate 3. Those without car passes can park on Kamaraj Road and enter through Gate 3.

Traffic diversion

Traffic will be diverted between 8.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. from BRV Junction to Kamaraj Road junction on both directions on Cubbon Road.

Vehicles coming from CTO Circle towards Manipal Centre will take a left turn on Central Street and go through Infantry Road, Safina Plaza, Main Guard Cross, Allies Circle, Dispensary Road, Dickenson Road Junction and on to Manipal Centre junction.

Vehicles on the opposite direction will take Kamaraj Road junction towards Cauvery Arts and Crafts Circle, M.G. Road, Anil Kumble Circle, BRV Junction and turn towards CTO Circle.

Vehicles coming from Anil Kumble Circle towards Cubbon Road will go on Central Street, turn to Infantry Road, Safina Plaza, Main Guard Cross, Dispensary Road, Kamaraj Road, Dickenson Road and K.R. Road junction and go on Cubbon Road towards Manipal Centre junction. Vehicles coming from M.G. Road towards Cubbon Road will go straight towards Anil Kumble Circle, turn to BRV Junction and through Cubbon Road to CTO Circle.

The police have said that due to security reasons invitees and others coming to the parade will not be allowed to bring mobile phones, radios, umbrellas or other articles. All invitees have to be seated before 8.30 a.m.
