BEML (Mysore) scores good win

Mysore: BEML (Mysore) helped by some good play by Jayanth (21) and Ravi (12) registered a well earned 76-65 win over Protec SC in their Group `B' league encounter in the men's section of the 20th Independence Day District-level Basketball tournament conducted by Nationals SC at the Subbarayanakere courts here on Sunday.

The results: League: Men: Group `B': BEML (Mysore) 76 (Jayanth 21, Ravi 12, Brijesh 10, Keshava 10) bt Protec SC 65 (Hidayath 21, Gautham 15).

Group `C': Kings 62 (Pradeep 12, Sashwath 13) bt All Star 58 (Murali 21, Venkatesh 15).

Junior College Boys: De Paul Resedential School 44 (Nihad 23) bt SLHJ College 39 (Naveen 16); Marimallappa's PU College 22 (Vijay 14) bt Sadvidya Semi Resedintial College 13 (Subramanya 13); St. Joseph's 39 ( Prajwal 14) bt Sadvidya 16( Samathur Abhilash 9).

College Boys: Vidya Vardhaka 67 (Nandan 39, Prajwal 16) bt SJCE 61 (J.B. Joshan 33, Mohan Raj 17); NIE w/o JSS (L).

Sharath shines

All-round performance by N. Sharath (five for 40 & 36 not out), helped RBNCC `B' register a three-wicket win over Yuvaraja's College in a KSCA Mysore Zone first division league match here on Sunday.

The scores: first division: Yuvaraja's College 197 in 48 overs (M.S. Vinay 71, N. Sharath five for 40) lost to RBNCC `B' 199 for seven in 45.5 overs (Balasubramaniam 71, K.N. Yogesh five for 36); The Mysore Gymkhana 259 for five decl. in 35 overs (inclusive of 30 penalty runs) (Asuthosh 83, Shyamsundar 44) drew with Saraswathipuram SC 243 for nine in 54 overs (K.P. Madan Kumar 57, Nandish 79).

Second division: Vidyaranya CC 57 in 27 overs (Sai Krishna four for six) lost to Agraharam CC 61 for five in 23.4 overs.

BEMS teams advance

Bharath English Medium School `A' and `B' teams along with Milagres and Bharath Kannada Medium School have booked their place in the last four stage in the high school category of the Independence Cup football tournament in Mangalore on Sunday.
