Still no power production

Shimla: Power generation in 1500 MW Nathpa-Jhakri hydro project in Shimla and Kinnaur districts remained suspended for 21st day on Sunday as there was no significant reduction in silt level of Sutlej to restart the electricity production.

The silt level at Nathpa was more than 8000 Part Per Million (PPM) against the maximum permissible limit of 4000 PPM, official sources said. The discharge of water was also 1020 cusecs against normal discharge of 550 to 600 cusecs, they said. Meanwhile, the Shimla-Rohroo road, which was damaged due to flash floods at Bhagoli, following cloudburst in Giriganga ranges would be cleared and opened to traffic by tomorrow, district Deputy Commissioner Tarun Kapoor said on Sunday.PTI
