NEW DELHI: Four persons have been arrested by the South-West Delhi police for allegedly smuggling liquor into the Capital. The police have seized a Matiz car and Canter truck and claim to have recovered 200 cartons of illicit liquor. According to the police, two of the accused -- Harmit Singh and Ganesh -- were arrested at Dwarka on Friday. The police recovered 20 cartons of illicit liquor from the car. At their instance, the police intercepted a Canter truck and recovered 180 cartons of illicit liquor. Two of the occupants, Pushkar and Jitender, were arrested at the spot. Investigations revealed that the liquor recovered from Matiz car had been procured from Gurgaon, while the consignment seized from the Canter truck had been brought from Chandigarh. The police said the accused were planning to sell the illicit liquor in various slum clusters of the Capital. Harmit, Ganesh and Jitender have earlier been booked under the Excise Act.
