Seven die of fever, diarrhoea

Cases of cerebral malaria too reported

KHAMMAM: Seven persons died of fever and diarrhoea in the flood-hit villages here in the past 24 hours. Kotla Venkateswarlu, 40, and Pata Ramana, 30, of Voddigudem, one of the totally submerged villages, died of viral fever. N. Lakshmaiah of Nunevarigudem also died of fever. In Madhavaram village of Kukunor mandal, a farmer, Kota Rosaiah, died of fever on Saturday.

Diarrhoea claimed the lives of Medipalli Nirmala, a shopkeeper and Kodi Guravaiah, a worker in Manuguru town in the same day.

Though medical facilities were available in the town round the clock, the two patients could not move out of their houses. A Government employee, Dasaratham, 40, who had fallen sick died on the way to the district headquarters hospital on Saturday.

On August 7, a nine-year-old girl Yedla Veeramani died of fever in Kothulagta relief camp in Kunavaram. Another girl died in a relief camp at Bhadrachalam on August 10.
