TIRUCHI: Hundreds of devotees took a holy dip at the Ammamandapam bathing ghat on the banks of the Cauvery in Srirangam on the occasion of `Aadi 28' festival on Sunday. The festival, on the lines of the `Adiperukku', signifies a thanksgiving exercise to the river. Sri Namperumal from Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple was brought to Ammamandapam where special pujas were performed. On behalf of the temple, the priests offered holy gifts, including sari and garlands to the Cauvery.
