One held for credit card fraud

CHENNAI
: Police arrested Sriram alias Srikanth of Teynampet Ramalingeswarar Temple Street on charges of purchasing valuables including gold coins, a computer and a laptop worth over Rs 2.50 lakh by producing bogus credit cards in various shops in the city.
An officer said on Sunday the accused was a direct sales executive with a leading bank in Nungambakkam. Two of his colleagues, Senthil alias Senthil Murugan and Dheena, were also involved. The group took advantage of rush hour in the jewellery shop situated on the busy Renganathan Street by posing as shoppers and walked away with gold coins by producing the fake card.
However, when they attempted similar tactic in purchasing a laptop and computer, luck deserted them. An alert shopkeeper found that it was fake, and filed a complaint.
