Crowded platforms inconvenience passengers and make security checking a tedious process. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has suggested that only passengers be allowed to enter the platforms. He said metal detectors should be used for security checks. These steps should be implemented at the earliest. Autorickshaws, four-wheelers, scooters, hand-drawn carts parked along the road inconvenience motorists and pedestrians. The traffic is heavy and vendors illegally occupy most of the footpath. The traffic island at Sasthamangalam junction takes up a lot of space that could have been used to increase the carriage width of the road.
