Janmashtami contests

The Sri Krishna Janmashtami Samithi, Thyagarajanagar, will organise a Kolatta competition, Vastu Shodhane, Tricycle Race and Sri Krishna Costume contest as part of its Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations on August 15 and August 16. The objective of the festival, said a release, was to popularise the traditional games and culture of society, now under attack from modern video games and commercialisation of society.

Creative courses

Bal Bhavan Society, Cubbon Park, has announced annual creative courses at the Central Bal Bhavan, Rajajinagar, Jayanagar, Coles Park and Jeevan Bima Nagar mini Bal Bhavans. The courses will commence on September 2 and go on till January 26, 2007, for children in the age group of five to 16. The courses will cover creative and performing activities. Applications will be issued at the Central Bal Bhavan, Cubbon Park, from August 19 except on Mondays and August 27. For more details, call the office of the Secretary, Bal Bhavan on Ph: 22864189.

Talent hunt

To promote soothing melody and meaningful literature through vintage film music, Vinmusiclub, an association of connoisseurs of vintage film music, will arrange a vintage Hindi film hits singing contest called "Talaash-The Talent Hunt" on September 9 and September 10. Winners and finalists of the event will be offered opportunities to perform in the vintage film music shows to be organised by Vinmusiclub. For more details call Ph: 9845748240.
