Reckless parking

Sir, — No doubt traffic congestion is experienced all over Bangalore, but some of it can be avoided. For instance, on Sanjaynagar Main Road, filmgoers park their vehicles haphazardly on the main road causing inconvenience to others. This requires urgent attention from the authorities concerned.

Overseas insurance

Sir, — Hardly any insurance company, be it in the public or private sector, offers overseas medical insurance cover to persons aged above 70. Thus, Indian senior citizens travelling overseas are left high and dry without any insurance cover that could cover expenses in any emergency. There are a few overseas insurance companies, all private, and mostly located in the U.S., that offer visitor's insurance on the Internet. One wonders why our own companies are lagging behind in this regard. It is time the age stipulation of 70 was scrapped and extended to 79 years, though with a higher premium.

Install streetlights

Sir, — Gurudatta Layout in Banashankari Third Stage is developing fast. It comes under Rajarajeswari City Municipal Council. There is a Dattatreya Temple near the layout. There are no streetlights on the road from the temple to the layout. Crime has increased nowadays. The authorities concerned should do the needful.

Sir, — The ban on child labour is a step in the right direction. It will only remain on paper un-less we study the reasons for it. There is a need to form a re-search team and study the situation in the districts. The team should persuade parents to send children to school and guide the former to seek jobs.
