Rupee ends lower
MUMBAI:
The rupee fell sharply and ended at 46.62/63 a dollar on Monday following heavy dollar demand from corporates and oil companies in the face of relatively low dollar supplies. The activity picked up during late afternoon at the interbank foreign exchange market and the rupee dipped to 46.63 level after resuming weak at 46.56/58 a dollar from Friday's close of 46.5150/5250.
Despite easing crude oil prices, public sector banks made heavy dollar purchases on behalf of oil companies after the midsession. PTI
