ERODE: Over 200 petitioners staged a road roko in front of the Collectorate here on Monday, complaining delay in registering their names at the computerised counter. The counter on the Collectorate premises was opened exclusively to get names of public with grievances registered on Mondays. The crowd, including women and children, had been waiting from noon, and even till 3 p.m. their names were not registered, due to staff shortage. Further, the District Revenue Officer V. Santha who was receiving the petitions on behalf of the Collector also left the grievances hall for her office, much to the disappointment of the crowd. MLAs Vidiyal Sekar and K.V. Ramanathan, who happened to be near the Collectorate, and a few officials pacified them, and assured that their applications would be registered and forwarded to respective sections. The crowd dispersed after an hour. Because of the road roko, the public could not enter the Collectorate and were asked to take the entrance before the District Treasury. Meanwhile, over 200 villagers of Kodumudi submitted applications as a bunch to Ms. Santha, demanding that they be provided with free house site pattas. Over 100 applications sought new family cards.
