Student leader's killing sparks tension in Manipur town

IMPHAL: Tension prevailed at the border town of Moreh, as fresh reports of shops and market sheds belonging to the Kuki tribals being torched were received on Monday morning.

This follows abduction and killing of Sunil Agarwal, president of the Chandel district unit of the All Manipur Students' Union on Saturday morning. In a statement, the Kuki National Front has owned responsibility for the killing. It further said that Agarwal was killed for not cooperating with the Kuki National Front-Military Council. The killing had no communal overtone, it added. .
