This Day That Age
The first coach with indigenous parts, components and sub-assemblies completed at the Integral Coach Factory in Perambur, Madras, was turned out from the main assembly shop by the President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, on August 14. Addressing the officers and workmen of the factory, Dr. Prasad congratulated the factory on the achievement it had to its credit and said he was looking forward to still greater achievement in the not very distant future. Welcoming the President, Mr. K. Sadagopan, Chief Administrative Officer, said that according to the target they had to produce 20 coaches in the first year. But they had not only been able to double this number but had also rearranged the whole plan to attain the maximum production target of 350 coaches a year in the fourth year itself instead of in the fifth.
