Leaders pay homage at Edouard Goubert statue

Rangasamy pays homage at leader's statue

Pondicherry: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy along with the chairperson of the Pondicherry Municipal Council, B. Sridevi, the Government whip M. Kandasamy and legislators paid homage at the statue of the former Chief Minister and Mayor of Pondicherry, Edouard Goubert, on the occasion of the leader's 27th death anniversary in Bharathi Park here on Monday.

Former Speaker of Pondicherry Assembly M.D.R. Ramachandran as well as chairmen of a number of State Government sponsored corporations also participated.

Edouard Goubert was a veteran Congress leader and freedom fighter. He became Chief Minister of Pondicherry and headed a Ministry formed by the Congress after Pondicherry became free de jure. He was also a Mayor of Pondicherry Municipal Council. The Pondicherry Pradesh Congress committee president, P. Shanmugham, along with the office bearers of the PCC , the Congress legislators and representatives of various wings of the party paid homage at the portrait of Eduardo Goubert at the party office.

He recalled the services of Goubert for the development of the Union Territory.
